If It Was Raining Soup I'd Be Standing There With A Fork

Let me set the stage. Been coming down to Mom's every third month for a while now. Last trip down I noticed an old car (or so it looked) under a car cover on the next street over from Mom's here in her trailer park. Do I check it out? NO!! Now I'm really fried with myself. What's under the tarp - a 1940 Ford coupe, black with a nice grey tweed interior. Turns out it's a 350/350 on a Nova subframe - common but safe and reliable. The car is basically rust free but needs a lower back panel. A guy just bought it from the PO thru a family connection. It had been sitting for about a year and a half. At first it wouldn't run but it turned out that all the fuel filters (there were three) were plugged. It starts and runs fine and doesn't overheat or anything.

I wasn't REALLY mad at myself until I heard the price - $3000! How cone these deals never fall in MY lap??!!!

Turns out the guy who got it is a really decent guy so I don't feel TOO bad.

A street rod really wasn't in my plans at this time but I'd have found the coin somewhere. Cool little car - sort of bootlegger-looking. The PO had owned it for a long time but was tight for money and the new owner was in the right place at the right time - with a checkbook.

With me it usually rains soup when my cup is still full from the last downpour...

They should make a new version of poker for gearheads and use the term a 'Full Garage' in it instead...
They always seem to serve the best soup when you're not hungry...

I think I could go on for a while with this soup-stuff I guess... :D
