No mention about Petty's drag racing event win.

He won B/Altered in the car at an AHRA national event.

That accident must still haunt him.

the pettys were involved with roy hill for a long time

His first race car was a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, which is not surprising since Petty Enterprises was only a few miles from his house. Soon after Roy began racing, Maurice Petty and Petty Enterprises were doing his engine work.

Roy worked for those guys.

I hung out with him in the tower at Epping during the IHRA event this year. He's a true character!

my buddy used to run points at mooresville drags
big party at that place
he misses all of the racing , but doesn't miss the hardscrabble lifestyle
