Well reading the whole article and just knowing the history of the Petty Enterprises you will see it was once his, then with mergers , name changes and being sold and him just hanging around for namesakes yeah he kinda lost it.
So yeah its his again.

petty enterprises was in level cross
george gillette was the owner , he bought out evernham and they bought petty after petty lost all of his sponsors
all in the vacuum of lost chrysler
so , it's good the king is still in the sport , but like the wood bros , just a front group for roush racing

He was a victum of circumstance.I personally think that FORD would have been his last choice,but FOMOCO helped
him all they could in this deal.I'm all for it.
