Re: Goner: Ford Officially Announces Death of Crown Vic/Town Car Next Year
I wonder how much $ it will take to fix all those that were basterdized with 24" wheels and huge stereos back into fleet vehicles. The Taxi companies may be paying a premium for used grandma cars from the Hood in the future. -

"Ford's reasoning is a projected drop in sales due to stricter environmental standards that police and taxi vehicles will be held to over the coming years. "
that's hilarious....they're already replacing many CV cop cars around here with suburbans, that's gotta be a big benefit to the environment, right?
Looks like minivans will take over the taxi business. Or maybe priuses, they are getting more common.

Re: Goner: Ford Officially Announces Death of Crown Vic/Town Car Next Year
bet ford has a banner year with this car, as the fleet buyers will place big orders just like they did with big rigs before the new emission mandates..
every taxi company will update their fleet with new ones, and they'll be set for 6-8 years..
that means a ton of used ones on the market next few years..
I see the 4 door jeep in 2 wheel drive being a taxi soon.. quincy cabs are looking into it now..
mopar just needs to make it 2 wheel drive..Comment

Lincoln people met with many limo company owners in the LA area to show off their replacement for the Towncar, sits on the same platform as the CV. My boss tells me that they showed him the MKS as the new replacement that our clients want. Lincoln knowing what our clients want is an idiotic statement alone. That and telling us that a car with 10 inches less shoulder room inside, half the trunk side, way less rear seat leg room; all for $4000 more than a Towncar was the biggest joke.

All the big three screw the pooch, when they have a winner(or at least it seems).
The GM A/G bodies were hot sellers...dropped.
The Beretta was another hot seller...dropped

Very hard to knock a car that was in production basically unchanged for 32 years. I personally like the later-80's Grand Marquis for the looks.Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!
