Having a Bangshift Raceway is doable if you get a few hundred members to pony up a few grand each. Then you need some cash to cover operating costs but who is concerned about.

Thanks for the PR there Brian! Little ol' Abilene is now officially World Famous. I'm going to have to add "As Seen on BangShift!" to the About Us page. ;D

Seriously, it is a nice track. Dean and Alva spent big bucks fixing 99% of all the little issues and 100% of any big issues. Penhall ground the track flat in 2008. It's a very nice facility for a small town 1/8 mile track. "Overbuilt" - but that's the way Burl Harris built things when he was around.

The coverage from the local media is interesting. Don't expect much from them. The track has been for sale for over 18 months but the sign out front apparently got somebody's attention. We were out of town on vacation, but friends said that they ran a segment on the local TV and the segment showed video taken at the circle track (Abilene Speedway). So the 3 TV stations and the local paper don't seem to know where the drag strip is located. It's hard to find - being right there on I-20 next to the Motel 6 not a mile from the closest neighborhood.

Ha Ha been by it a zillion times when driving from Stephenville to Amarillo and back, but never when it was open.

My old partner grew up in Stephenville ...
