smokey ran a 65 impala with bobby allison at one point

409 was replaced midyear with the 396

just a bit of history,
Roy Mayne was in the movie Speedway with Elvis and Bill Bixby. Also starring in that movie was other NASCAR greats, Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough, just to name a couple. That movie was filmed in '67 and released in '68 but in the first part of the movie you can see some '66 Impalas on the track. At that time it was not uncommon for owners to run the cars as much as 3 or 4 years old. This could be a historic movie car and a racer.

I havnt been able to watch the whole movie through since finding this out. Somebody with money and love for old stockers needs to pony up and buy this thing.

Mayne placed fourth at Darlington in '65. I wonder if this was the car in that race.
