Wow! Don't I feel like a celebrity right now! Thanks for asking.

Well, I haven't laid eyes on it (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2653024) for almost six months as I have been deployed. But I get home next week and I've been doing some planning. My craigslist habit has netted me a complete (supposedly low mile) 250 six and three speed waiting for me at a guys house about three miles from mine. I figure the $100 is worth him holding it for me until I get home, even if it is no good. So I am gearing up for my first rebuild ever completely by myself, but I figure this is a good way to do it. I'll still be driving it while I am screwing up the 250.

Plans include a Clifford four barrel intake, Holley 390 carb, stovebolt cast iron (dual) exhaust manifolds, mild head work (no lump ports) with larger valves and perhaps some milling for slightly higher compression. You suggested turbocharger, and believe me, I have been thinking about it. But that is a bit further down the road. This car still has the original spiral shocks, for crying out loud. I need to do a few other things before I get there. So the remaining question is to mill the head (for better power now) or leave it (for optional turbocharging later.)

I'll also dress it up with a nice valve cover (missed out on an aluminum offy from ebay a few days ago) and side covers and paint. Something along the lines of this (somebody else's car on cardomain):

The car also needs some cosmetics like new/rechromed front bumper, detailed trunk and engine compartment, grill polishing/painting, etc etc.

I plan to show it all here on a project thread. And I'll need lots of mechanical help.

I have a spare 292 head (interchanges) so you could cut one and leave the other full sized - viola, both options! Call me when you get back and we can talk. Also have to figure out if you can put heat to my Clifford intake. Bummer on the Offy V/C - those are pretty! Still have the big valves and such, but the PO lost my springs! I hope they turn up eventually, but they aren't a ton of money anyway.

Those old stove bolts are great little motors. Not fast, but will get here to there reliably on a decent gas.
