    Pics Posted - AMC

I found a neat project for AMC fans. The guy who does upholstery and graphics for me has a Rambler Rebel in his back lot. It's a 2 door hardtop (no pillar) and is in pretty good shape, body-wise. Someone started messing with it and the engine was removed. There's a (presumably) different engine stuffed in the engine bay (not on the mounts) and I couldn't tell what it was from looking in the crack where the hood is open (you'll see in the pics when I get them up). Interior is grubby but seems complete. Lots of parts stacked in the car such as the radiator, etc. The only rust I can see is a little around the rear wheel arches. It's a project for sure but an unusual car for someone to put together. They're asking $1,000 and I have no idea what they'd take if cash were offered.

I'll buzz over and get some pics (hopefully later today) when I'm out and about. If someone is interested I'll send contact info and I can act as a go-between if you come to an understanding.

    Here you go -

The place was locked when I got there so I had to shoot these thru the fence. Got what I could.

Re: Check for Pics - Coming Soon - AMC

Can't waite. Always been a AMC fan. As a kid, I use tp pick up the factory brochures on then in the late 60's. I remember in the 67 model year seeing the Rambler Rogue, 290 and 4 speed options thinking what a cool car it would be. I always wondered how many were ordered like that? Too bad they were over shadowed by the big 3.

In high school, I drove a '58 Rambler. I dragged it out of an old lady's driveway with a cracked block. Bought a '63 parts car and dropped the engine in it. It was the tail lights and the fins that did it for me. I'd love to find another one, drop a 360 in it, a little suspension work, wide tires and the dog dish hub caps with the big red R. ;D

    Hurry up with the pictures!!!

Tom - they show on my screen now so I hope they're up for all. I was having trouble getting the pic transfer to work. I screwed up - it's a Rambler Classic. Wish I had more info on what's been thrown under the hood (and I do mean "thrown").

It's a 64. Looks like it was a 6 cyl car, no V8 emblems. My dad bought a 63 Rambler 550 Classic when I was a kid. The only options were reclining front seats and a AM radio. Blue on blue.

The 64's were the same as the 63 except for different head light and tail light bezels and some other small stuff. I still have the 63 shop manual my dad bought along with the 65 & 70 Ramblers he bought. If you need any info from the manual let me know.

Talk about a clean sheet of paper. I don't think I've ever seen one of those done up nice, that car could be awesome with the right vibe.
Just groovin' to my own tune.

I love the styling of those, especially being a 2 door HT, I'd love to get one one day, though now would not be the best time for yet another project
Rumors of my demise by rollover have been greatly exaggerated.

When I worked at the junkyard way back when, we had a 4 dr wagon version of that car as a yard truck, ran for a few years, never did sell any parts off it (no demand)

gotta love the torque tube drive and the kingpin/trunion front end

                        torque tube!

I have one of those in the '54 and it's one of the biggest reasons I want to swap out the whole drive-train!

That car certainly has interesting possibilities and looks pretty complete.... might be a biatch to find the missing body side moldings....

When I get a chance I'll look to see what's in the car. There's quite a bit like the rad and other bits and the side moldings may be there too. I'll also try to find out what the "installed" engine is.

It was pouring rain here today so I didn't get anything done along this line. I'm still trying to get the Camaro done for this weekend but looks like I'm not going to make it so maybe I can get more pics tomorrow.
