ATTRITION RATE FOR 20 YR OLD CARS

Spring is sprung and summer is right around the cornner and I don't seem to be noticing near as many third gen F-bodies. Even fewer Trans Ams than Camaros .Anyone have an idea of the "death rate of old cars. Maybe someone that used to work for the gov'ment or the insurance industry?

people are putting them away,,
and alot of them now need work,,,
and might be garage art for a few years as they get redone..
also with so many out of work , or hours cut..
they might have had to park it for this season

location, location, location.

I worked and still ive in a 30k+ city, north central maine...and knew I was the only one driving a 74 chevelle in 1994.
I knew I was the last one with a monte daily beaten.. that was only 1996 (they had much shorter lives than the last of the heavy guage steels).. in fact, they got alot of bad opinions, breaking frames and all kinds of stuff left for japanese stereotypes.
I am now the only crazy person driving a 23 yr old ten geared subaru with a 1 year paint code...
without a singular doubt.



my same scenario lasts longer in all the south states.
Heck, I remember wandering with friends around texas in 1993, and seeing a well dented 60s chevrolet packed full of poverty, cracked glass... and no doubt the owners only car. that same piece of crap around here is a totally different value.

Lots of old stuff around here. Probably hard to tell just by registration numbers, how many are left, or how many are really being used.

so get used to new cars -with the matching smog stickers
got a pesky p0442 I can't fix and no waiver , so the state says I must junk my fancy musclecar , that cannot keep the fumes in it's tank

There is plenty around here . I think 3 or 4 right in my neighborhood. a few nice Monte SS's just showed up around too.

there are some who will recycle it for you with a cordless sawzall and 5 minutes. :-\

3rd gen camaros, TAs, mustangs are the cheap hot rod now.... 20 years from now, Barrett will be selling those for big money to people who say "remember when we went out in our new (camaro/mustang/ta)?
