Re: Red light camera
man alive! wow. I wish I could take you guys on a ride thru Milwaukee. when a lite turns yellow it means speed up. when it turns red, go even faster you can make it.
it took me about 2 months to get used to this.
you really have to pay attention when entering any intersection in Milwaukee. -
Re: Red light camera
Milwaukee isn't that bad unless you are talking about driving on the north side of town. In that case you can throw all traffic laws out the window.Comment

Re: Red light camera
We have photo-enforced lights here in Wilmington on some of the major intersections. It's a weird deal - there are no points on your license and no limit to how many you can get. The system is run by a contractor and the money goes to schools. I guess it helps as we don't have too many red light runners.

Re: Red light camera
We have red light cameras at a few intersections in Virginia Beach. RIght now, they're shut off...but the city is getting ready to reactivate them. They initially shut them down because a report came out that said they "caused too many crashes". IMO that's a load of crap. Red light cameras don't cause crashes. Dumbasses trying to beat the light and then slamming on their brakes when they don't make it cause crashes.Comment

Re: Red light camera
that is scary stuff. unexpected...
I learned the places with a delay after red, before the other side turns green, does not have crazy wrecks. Treating it like there there is retarded people is the best way.
there is a spot locally (urban) blinded by square buildings taking up an intersection that changes one side to the other way way to freakin fast. I mean, you could be sitting there with blinker on waiting in the middle of the road.. and the light would turn red where you are ... and immediately green could fly right at you for a side hit.
I gotta catch a wreck there with the camera sometime, it happens that often...I bet they blame drivers.

Re: Red light camera
Here in Cali, most cities lose money on red light cameras. They cost more to operate and maintain than they make from tickets. Pathetic all around.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Re: Red light camera
Culver City still does it the old fashion way, they hide in plain sight.
This cops nailed close to 50 people in @ a little over an hour of sitting here,
for a no turn on red, while we were working in the area.
In Los Angeles County, a no turn on red is @ $450+. I came to a full stopped, but past the white line in a SFV intersection and got a good for home self portrait to hang above the fireplace mail to me for a cool sum of $499 thanks to photo enforced intersection.

Re: Red light camera
I always scan the intersection when going thru a green light. My wife was in a serious wreck in Dec. 2009. a full size pickup ran a stop sign crossing into her path, impact speed was est. between 50 to 55 mph. she did not have time to hit the brakes. she is still looking at shoulder surgery and was out of work for 7 weeks.also just for Info the ms state troopers checked to see if her or the other driver was on the cell phone during the time of the accident. It was in the report.

Both CHP and LAPD sit in the gas station at the National exit off WB I-10 writing tickets for No Right On Red there.
Culver City PD sits by our office on Sepulveda Blvd writing tickets people blocking an intersection.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver
