Anyone watching the Olympic Games?

I've gotta admit,winter/summer Olympic's never were anything that I wanted to watch.But I have watched the
curling in the past few cuz I don't really understand it.Shuffel board might be better.Would be better taped and shown 20
percent faster,kinda like baseball should be but the curlers don't spit and fight each other.Not taking away the skills
of any of the participants in any of the games,just find most of it boring.Would rather watch a bunch of people slapping at themselves after swatting a wasp nest.No politics or professionals,just entertainment.

I like watching the bobsled and the ski jumpers...that's about it.

Everything but last night... which was Mens figure skating.... Tonya wanted to know why I wasn't interested...and I simply pointed out the " Guy " had Freaking Feathters around his WRIST...... ahhh HELLO.... you need tits to pull something like that off....

But the rest of it is this ..... It's People doing sports at the Ultimate level... at the Peak... ( Also known as the ACME... )... it's the Best there is with the Most pressure they will ever feel.... and while some crumble under it... others truly shine...

If you can't get that kind of effort.... hmmm, Me telling you what it's about won't help....

I watch the Superbowl and folks at Bonneville, the Baja, Dakar, this little girl sailing around the world.... all that stuff just amazes me and puts my mundane existence into perspective... these things inspire me to be MORE then I am... or to Reach... Professional athletes don't impress me much... if you make millions a year... you NEED to catch the ball anytime it's within earshot... It's why I read Magazines... to see cars better then I can build... or better thought out.... it's all the same....

The best athletes in the world competing for a week in one arena.

Not interested in all of the sports of course, but once every four years is the only time I watch hockey for example - you get to watch the game without it breaking out into a bar-room brawl.

The women's downhill was great, Vonn and Macuso gold and silver. Some brutal yard sales though. Vonn's kind of hot as well.

Hell Yeah! I live in BC, so I've been watching and have gone to a couple events -

Went to Men's Moguls on Sunday - great time - got to see the first Canadian gold won on Canadian soil (we have had the Olympics 2 times before and had not one a gold at either - 1 summer & 1 winter)

Also went to a hockey game today, it was just Finland v. Belarus, but cool none the less to go to an Olympic hockey game.

I'm going to Curling tomorrow morning

I'm watching it in between jobs working. I'm enjoying the coverage of most of the sports. I have to say that I like the way that NBC is giving quite a bit of time to athletes from other countries and those who don't have much of a chance of winning, but are showing the spirit of the Olympics.

I agree - EXCEPT - did anyone notice that they already announced Vonn and Mancuso won the downhill yesterday with still around 8 women left to run? They were all ranked low, with little real chance of winning. But I thought it was in bad taste. I was thinking how I'd feel if I were on top of that mountain waiting to start my run, only to hear the buzz that Vonn took gold. Nothing against Vonn or Mancuso - they were tremendous!

I've been watching some of it.

I did watch Shawn White last night. Infargingcredible!

Had the gold with a 46.8, had everyone covered by ALOT,
and threw down the huge second run for a huge 48.4.

By the way, he pulled out a new trick in the second run.

Imagine being him. He was the class of the field by a TON. I cannot fathom being the best in the world at something, and not just by a little.

I'm all over the hockey as well. Best hockey tourney in the world.
