    351 windsor camshaft help

    Hello, everyone.
I have a friend who has a 1968 mustang and he is installing a new engine
    351 W
    Iron heads
    stock pistons
    edelbrock dual plane intake
    Street headers
    automatic trans

What camshaft would be good for reliable power and a general cruiser

    Thanks

    Re: 351 windsor camshaft help

I'd have to look up the specs but I have a Comp Extreme Energy in mine and works pretty well with a built AOD and a slightly loose converter (I don't remember this stuff!). I called Scooter and he went with the cam recommended by their software program and it sure seems about right.

The engine is a stock '96 5.8 bottom end with Edelbrock Performers and FMPP roller rockers. I have shorty FMPP swap headers and a Trick Flow EFI intake w/24 lb. injectors. Makes 300 HP rear wheel on a Dynojet - with ALL emissions gear intact. The cam is the only thing w/o an EO number. I suspect that there's quite a bit more HP with more tuning and maybe bigger injectors but I haven't messed with it further.

    Dan

For any Ford cams - a good place to call is cam research in colorado, they are the only place I know of that will break in your flat tappet cam and lifters for you before sending them out.

            The definitely speak Ford:

i really don't think he needs to go that way....if you want a great value...you cannot beat the Crane Energizer cams.i agree with BEAGS on this...212-218...on 110 to pump up TQ..this is cookie cutter stuff..

                thank you everyone
I am only peripherally involved in this build.
                Flat tappet engine
stock crate motor stuff with some bolt ons
I will pass on your recommendations and update you when he gets it running
I don't think he will take it to the drag strip
                Just a cruiser

i would use the edelbrock performer cam made to work with the intake

                    need more info..

                    hyd or solid
                    rear gear..
and what does he want out of it..
good power with manners, great mid range or good mig range with great top end..
dropping a cam in it for low end in a cruiser doesn't make sense if it's got 4.11's and is in the lowend almost never.
