Summit mufflers.Good or bad??.

Im ordering parts for the Bigblock setup now.Had to order a exhaust system for a 68-72 chevelle,cause a 3inch system wasnt obtainable at Summit for my 76 model.They are pretty close undeside,so that shouldnt be a problem fixing.Mufflers than.i found these summit ones in 3 inch.Compared to flowmasters and others..what are the big diffrence on these cheap summit ones??.

I have zero idea how they rate as a performance muffler, but I like the 2.5" one's on my Skylark. They were louder until the EFI conversion :P

I've bought a few of their mufflers. I was very pleased with them. The first time I bought them, I was looking for cheap mufflers and they fit the bill. Something like $13 each, When I got them, I was very impressed, they were very well made and definitely looked like much pricier mufflers. I would not hesitate to buy or use them down the road regardless of cost. A real bargain IMO.

I may give them a try also.
I wonder what brand they actually are, obviously Summit sells other peoples parts under their brand.
I bought the Summit brand sound deadner and when it arrived it was hushmat for a fraction of the normal cost.

Never heard what kinda cfm they flow, but a few friends run them and they sound nice....I'd give them a try.

I have the large Summit Turbo's on the Caprice. They're great and sound nice. Pretty quiet sounding now with the stock motor, but I didn't want loud on this car.

It's my experience, so far, that Summit cares about selling good quality stuff under their name.

I've been buying a lot of my parts from Summit lately. I haven't had any bitches about them so far. I don't like the handling charges but at least the quality is there.

Well,i will order those Summit ones then.Thay will probably get destroyed at the track anyways.Going into the sandtraps,make big destruction :P.

I will tuck the exhaust as close to the floors as possible,to make as much ground clearance as possible.Will probably have to cut into the coated Hooker headers to accomplish this.They are always hangin below the frame.

that'd be the fully welded chambered ones (prolly from .. uh... off shore) that I prolly just put accidentally on my gen 1 lightning, and I hate how quiet they are. They're like a 3 chamber flowbastid. Should sound better with long tubes... but way too quiet with functional cats. Performance-wise, how much can you feel "5 lb feet better" than the competition?

They muffle. Did I speel that right? Quiter than open pipes. Should be okay to keep the local gendarmes happy without giving up too much.

Maremont is a sponsor? I'd say Cherry bomb that mutha.

Cherry bombs....hmmmmm.May have to see on those too.I can live with a loud exhaust,but will the local police?? ;D.Theres only one way to find out..just the name cherry bombs,are neat ;D

I got the 2.5 universal size and what that means is 1.75, 2.00, 2.25, 2.50, 3.00 are all the same size with a bigger pipe welded on the ends to fit a certain size you order.
They dogged the engine down so bad it would turn a tire over.

I put two, 2.5" Summits on my old F250 that had a 460. The mufflers were 2.5" all the way, no necking down inside. I suppose it would be a good question to ask a sales man at Summit when ording.
