Dude, I literally CRINGED when I saw the cars with crushed A-pillars, crushed roofs, etc.

OUCH.

How much does it cost in body work to repair or replace the roof on a Pantera or fastback Mustang?

Was in those tents Thursday about three hours before they flew. Believe me, the initial damage estimates are conservative. A lotta really great cars got really messed-up!

my 65 Galaxie 500 convertible with 25000 original miles surviver did not survive the russo steele auction. I sustained 23000.00 in damages not to mention the deminished value of an unrestored car. They had been warned hours before the tent blue away by several of us that the stakes were pulling loose and basicly told us to mind our own business. Russo was totally aware of what was going on and chose not to do anything about it. Have nothing good to say about russo and steele. For anyone who had cars there, i have the claim # for the tent company and the contact #.

Larry, man, that is an awful story. I'm just about sick to my stomach reading it.

I hope the insurance company reacts properly to the situation, although I realize that the money is one thing, and having an intact car is another.

Brian--Thanks for the reply. Insurance is an issue because we had only liability on our car so basicly we are on our own as far as trying to collect any damage money. There is going to be a class action suit brought against russo and steele by so far 120 consigners who did not have the kind of insurance needed. What we are getting from the insurance companies is that they are classifiing this as an act of god. God must have been pretty pissed off at us. Thanks for your interest in this matter. Also for all classic car owners who are insured through HAGERTY- Have talked to numerous people who were insured through them and they have been getting lowballed on the damages. So Hagerty is not as good as everybody thinks. I think that when this is all washed out, the good guys will survive and the decetfull guys will go under. SHAME ON RUSSO STEELE AUCTIONS AND HAGERY

Did Russo and Steele promise to cover the cars in the auction from weather damages? If so, that would be awfully non-standard.

I can't sue the NMRA if a storm causes damage to my racecar while I'm racing at one of their events.

If there was some fine print that said "your car is fully covered from weather damage" (which by the way IS an act of god) or maybe if they said "your car is covered for all damages if our tent falls on your car" I could see someone having a reason to complain or file a lawsuit...

but that would seem strange of them to offer that kind of coverage. I can't see the logic in only having Liability Coverage on a car worth so much money - that just seems stupid to me - what if it came off the trailer on the way to the auction?

DOn't get me wrong, it is bad news when someone's nice nice car gets damaged like this. But I have yet to see how Russo and Steele are "bad guys" in this situation.

I said it before, if anyone should be held accountable, it should be those that chose to use those big friggin' tents. They are a disaster waiting to happen. Theres are lot more incidents involving these sorts of structures than we are made aware of.

No - I said you are full of shit. Warnings of stakes pulling loose is a helluva lot different than mystical 36 - 40 hour storm forcasts.

I feel for anyone who lost or had cars damaged there, rich or not.

Russo and Steele got lawyered up in a hurry, the owner of the cars should too. Multiple plaintiffs against one company makes for a better offense. Go after them with everything you got.
