What can you do if a machine shop charges you for work it didn't do?

We just got back our heads and block from a machine shop that had them almost two months. When we got them home after giving the guy a check we realize the block had not been boiled like he charged us for and we had to take it some where else to have it done!! We think the work he did on the heads are OK, but nothing was wrapped in plastic when we picked it up! And now the guy won't return our phone calls!! Any suggestion? >

Here in Cali, we have the Bereau of Automotive Repair. Not only that, the Better Business Bereau.

I called the Better Business Bureau (BBB) once on Dish Network once, shortly after that they bent over backwards to get the double installation charges off my statement after fighting with them for six months.

Depends on how much the owner cares about how his business is percieved if that course of action would work. Of course it would help to have a filed case on hand if you end up in small claim's court.......
            Escaped on a technicality.

X2 on both of the above statements ;D

Threats of bodily injury to the guy on the other end have always worked well for me ;D

Machine Shop stunts like this are why, IMO, crate engines are so popular. Its sad but, stories of wrong doing seem to be common in the machine shop/body shop world now-a-days. It gives all the good guys doing good work, a bad name.

Picking a woman, or a machine shop, ask around before you "get in bed" with either.

the last quote is sooooo true, and im sure thats one reson why crate engines
are popular, but not to affordable for us real low dollar guys

Lots of options, but here's three to begin with that don't involve violence:

                    1 - BBB

                    2 - Small claims court.

3 - Tell your friends (via an ad in the local paper).
