BangShift LeMons Race Team - Who's In ?

OK, quite a few members have expressed and interest in being involved in a BS LeMons Race Team and after a bit of discussion, we are now in a position to do something.

I spoke to Brian & Chad and they have no problem with letting us use the forum name and represent our site.
They can help out with covering BS logos for a LeMons car or two. I'm thinking we will probably need to run two teams, one West coast and another East coast, just due to the logistics, but we can discuss that in more detail.

David has offered up the original CarJunkieTV LeMons Fury for our endeavor, but we have to pull the engine and trans out of it for him, because he wants it for another project.

This means we can get the car, but without an engine and trans which shouldn't be a problem for us.

We should probably go pull a 318 combo out of something and throw it in there and we are good to go.
The car is caged, has a good plastic seat, two fuel cells (44 gallons I think total), an 8 3/4 with posi, a pretty good alignment setup up front, new brakes (before they raced it), new shocks, etc. It's a really good platform for LeMons.

So that is the deal. If you are interested in participating in any way, send me a PM and let me know in what capacity you want to be involved and we will go from there. We need financial backers, crew, technical subject matter experts, delivery people, parts runners, transportation specialists, drivers, etc... there are lots of positions and work requirements. Everyone involved in any way gets their name on the car !

    Let's go racing !!!

What side of the country? I'm game for West Coast stuff as long as I get the time approved.

Re: BangShift LeMons Race Team - Who's In ?

I'm in for the East Coast team. The Fury would be a great start. If we can find a motorhome we can probably even go BBM/TqFlt which would be a direct, easy bolt-in. The issue, of course, is getting it from there to here.

I know a guy on the East Coast with a Javelin that has a roll cage and little else. Now there's a thought. Another thought - I think the guy I got the ducktail spoiler from for my Camaro still has his old circle track Gen II Camaro (he's racing a Modified now). It will have a full cage, etc. and I'm pretty sure he pulled the motor so it might be free to cheap. I can ask if anyone's interested.

Oh, I'm up for about anything except driving.

        Dan

I offered up my time and talent (the little bit I got) for the original CJTV car. I'm still interested, if the race is in Cali, or maybe AZ.

I'M in on the East Coast deal. Would like to help build and drive.

I am going to try to spectate at the Feb NC/SC event to get a feel for it.

Steve, I can't commit to anything right now do the under-employment thing. If we pick back up I'll be there in whatever capicity needed.

Is the plan to keep the Fury on the west coast for events there and build a 2nd car for East coast guys OR juggle the Fury around ?

                  Hey all,

Depending on the event, I'm down for driving on the West Coast. I'll help out any way I can for other work, etc.

Also, I will be there, and provide the cherry picker, for pulling the engine out of the Fury if you decide you are using it. We'll do everything we can to cover the build, race, etc.

east coast "chump car" they don't smash your car and you get real track time in a real 24hr race. I met one of the east coast organizers, they seem pretty legit. Care about safety and you getting track time

Since the cat is out of the bag, I asked Lohnes three weeks ago about putting a Team together for the July race at Stafford Springs CT. I have already bought an 84 Mustang drop top, have a 302-C-6, 8.8 and some 5 lug stuff . Just got home from the fab shop where the cage will be going in. I'm $375 deep so far, with a couple local BSers maybe on board so far.

This and the Pacecar project is alot to bite off and chew but, there are alot of parts, and safety items that I can share the expense on between (recycle) both cars.

Anyone that wants to be apart, Id be happy to have you.

with my own projects and the new baby - I can't commit to much - but if ya'll end up running at the Michigan race - I will do my best to help out anyway I can.... if nothing else it would be a riot to come on out and crew / watch....
i've wanted to do this for a while - but just have never had the right circumstances.

I must admit the price of the safety equipment is a bit intimidating.
