So did any of you keep any old ones like Honest Charley,Bell Auto Parts,
Vic Hubbard etc.from the old day's?I did.
Not talking about Summit or Jeg's stuff.

Anyone ever been inside Vic Hubbard in Hayward Ca? The place is just flat out cool! Lots of parking lot car shows during spring and summer. Been there Many times.

RE: the V/H film, What drag strip was that early Fremont,or Vacaville?, I have been to both in those days,as a spectator
also used to buy parts at V/H in Hayward,from Jerry Light, this was befor Denny Forsburg was burned at the drags,and later worked worked at V/H Hayward shop. Jerry

I would have to go out on a limb and say Vacaville? Only because of the amount of homes located around the strip.

After getting high on horse power at V/H, we would go across the street and get a sugar high at the Worlds Fair donut shop.

Weird.
Just last night I was sifting through a drawer & found a catalog from 1954 for "General Distributing Company" in Newton, Massachusetts.
I've got to scan some of it, but apparently $84.50 could get me high comp Edmunds heads for a 48-53 Ford flat head.

Coll video,thanks for posting.Not Fremont tho.My parents were born and raised in
Bell,Ca.Dad took me to Bell Auto almost every Sat. back in the late '50's early '60's till we moved to nor.cal.
If my scanner were working,I'd post pic's of my many catalogs.

I have a price list and Book first from Edelbrock and others I collect some old stuff just like this. 1948 Hot Rods, Speed Sports, and builders books pretty cool stuff. I talked to Big Daddy when he opened his Museum about it, he said, drop it off we might use it, and we might not, but we wont send it back either way, so I declined it.

67, I didn't know you were from the Bay Area. I grew up there.

I love Vic Hubbard, and Goodies Speed Shop in San Jose is cool too. It was Goodies a million years ago, and then turned into Speed Merchant and a couple others before becoming Goodies again.

They used to have a great car show there, and on Friday evenings they had impromptu burnout contests there. Not the stupid kind like at car shows, just the local guys that were hanging out doing big long burnouts in the parking lot.

It was great.

I used to have Honest Charlie catalogs from the early 1960s. They were tossed in some move or other years ago. I mean, who would ever want THAT old crap? Later on I had some from Gratiot Auto and Ramcharger's - they were both HUGE companies at one time. Now gone, as far as I know.

the shop in the back, Jungle Jim, Race car builder Yahara, the fellow with the Pontiac funny car. that went to the East coast with J/J.. Ron Zicovich that owned a factory 426 dodge with the all aluminum front end, Jungle Jim built the headers for the Dodge Hemi Charger and that Hemi would shake the ground in the shop, Jim Maralia was their top salesman at the time. No, I'm from a small town called Angels Camp, Ca., but my grandparents where from Hayward. I would spend every summer vacation with them during the 70's and 80's. They live about two blocks away from the old Shasta factory. Since Gramps was a big car guy, we would go to V/H all the time. Once I got older I got a job as a contractor at the "Concord Navel Weapons Station". That put me back in the area so I started going to V/H again on a regular basis.

I have a few mint Honest Charlie catalogs and a 1962 Quincy Automotive catalog. I should scan some of the pages in.

Algon and Hilborn FI stuff was cutting edge back then!
