Quick Speedo question...

On my '88 Suburban, the speedo will register the first mile or two of driving... The odometer and speedo work... Then it just stops... No MPH, odometer stops working... No noise, nothing, just stops working...

Should I just replace the cable? Or is there something I am missing?

Sounds like the head tightens up once it gets warm. It's easy to check the cable - just pull it off the speedo head and pull it out where you can see it. If it stops spinning after its warmed up the problem is from the cable down. If it keeps spinning (which I think it will) the problem is in the head unit.

Might want to carefully inspect the driven gear too, could be it's stripped, where the cable fits into it. Look over the cable housing, see if it got too close to hot stuff and got melted. Usually the exhaust pipe will be the culprit.

Speedo's are great. Just wear it UNDER the belly like I do (UUGGHHH - BAD visual!!!!).
