First I would like to say hello to everyone here, I'm new to this forum. I have an 11:5:1 355 with a [email protected] and 508 cam with 2117 hooker headers that's in a 3300lb second gen 79 Camaro with 4:11s and a M-22 4speed. I am replacing my 2977 Bowtie Vic Jr with an RPM AirGap thanks to Dave's comparison video dyno clip on SSBB :o I have a question for DF and anyone else. First off this engine with the VicJr intake now pulls hard to 7K+ in a blink, with the AirGap Dave said a 1" open spacer would give more topend pull, without loosing on the bottom. What is the best size spacer to run on the airgap to get the same or close 6-7K pull as the Victor does now, without killing the signal and bottom end? Go 1" open or will a 1/2"-3/4" open work and give me more hood clearance? A spacer would make the intakes vacuum port usable with my Mighty Demon also. Thanks

Re: RPM AirGap Spacer Q
A one inch or maybe even a two inch open is the best. The one inch allows more plenum space and more mixing between the two sides of the dual plane even though the Airgap has a notch in the plenum divider.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Re: RPM AirGap Spacer Q
A Summit aluminum one inch open spacer really improved my motors manners.
I had a four hole spacer before and had trouble making the motor idle smoothly.
I have the Q Jet version of the Airgap which does not have the cut down divider,
not using a Q Jet though, BG 750 Demon.
This spacer from Summit also has a take off for vacuum, plug it or use it parts
supplied.

Re: RPM AirGap Spacer Q
I don't really have room for a 2" spacer rite now with the VicJr and a 1" wilson tappered my 14x4 air filter is 1/4" away from the inside bottom of the 2" cowl hood and the airgap is 1/8" taller than the Vic. That's why I am wondering if a 1/2"-3/4" open spacer would give enough topend flow?Comment

Re: RPM AirGap Spacer Q
I would give the tallest spacer I could fit a try, there again you could get a shorter airfilter, 3".
I see at Summit the shorter spacers are more expensive.
I have a 14"x4" filter on a 1 1/4" dropped K/N base, but under a 3" cowl.

it should if you grind down the divider a little say 1/4 from where it is now.. and wilson makes nice spacersOriginally posted by REARSPROCKETI don't really have room for a 2" spacer rite now with the VicJr and a 1" wilson tappered my 14x4 air filter is 1/4" away from the inside bottom of the 2" cowl hood and the airgap is 1/8" taller than the Vic. They are up there, but you'd be hard
pressed to find a better product, IMO.Comment

Re: RPM AirGap Spacer Q
So I guess the 1" open spacer is the best to use and a $Wilson$ the best one of the bunch. Fram makes a 3+1/2" tall air filter element I can run instead of the 4", unless I can find an air cleaner with a 1+1/2" drop base. I am just curious if DF or anyone has dynoed .500 and .750 height spacers against the 1"?Comment

Proform do a 2.250 in. dropped filter base.Originally posted by REARSPROCKETSo I guess the 1" spacer is the best to use and a Wilson $90. the best one of the bunch. Fram makes a 3+1/2" tall air filter element I can run instead of the 4", unless I can find an air cleaner with a 1+1/2" drop base.
Could?nt find 1.5 in. dropped bases.
Only 0.750 in., 1.250 in., 2.250 in.

Re: RPM AirGap Spacer Q
Thanks Malc, my summit generic has a 1" drop now so I guess any base with a 1+1/2" drop or more will work. Does anyone know if Dave still posts here?Comment

Since you were considering using a fram filter, it sounds like your 14 x 4 is a paper element air filter. If so, save up, get a 3" K&N filter. No more fitment trouble, plenty of air flow. This way, you can use an inexpensive Summit or Mr Gasket aluminum 1" spacer with no worries.Comment

Re: RPM AirGap Spacer Q
When we dynoed my 508 BBC, we tried all different spacers, 1", 2" open, 4 hole, and even the big dollar Wilson, and none of them improved the power.
It has a 4 3/8" crank, with a 4.310 bore. It has 10.75 to 1 compression, hyd roller with 620 lift, rectangular port GMPP heads, with a RPM Air Gap intake, and a 850 Holley. It really want's a single plane intake, with more cam and a dominator, but since it is in my wife's Chevelle, she wanted (forced) me to tame it down a little. It made 575 HP @ 5200 RPM, and 638 TQ at 4200.Comment

Re: RPM AirGap Spacer Q
Has anyone run the HVH 1" spacer (Street Sweeper ST4150-4), designed for the AirGap dual plane? Here's a link with a pic, it's second row far right. http://www.highvelocityheads.com/ima...rag_080630.jpg Also look here http://marine-performance-parts.com/st41504a.aspx Dave where are you?Comment
