I was gonna say stock car, but Mr4Speed one upped me. I'm with him. There would be nothin' like tossing an early Shelby or Cobra around the twisties. Mmmm. That's a dream world I could live in for a little while.

Without a single doubt in my mind:
Pro motocrosser in the 80's mixing it up with the likes of Johnny O'Mara, Broc Glover, David Bailey, Ron Lechien, Jeff Ward, Rick Johnson, Damon Bradshaw, etal.

Man this is a tough one!!!
At first I said '60 funny car driver...
Then I remembered that Mickey Thompson did funny cars, rails, Bonneville, Baha... Basically did it all. That was major cool.
But wait a minute, Mark Donohue did the Original Trans Am, Can Am, Indy and F1. That might have been cooler still.
And then the is Roger Penske. He may not have driven it all, but he certainly was at the center of it all.
I think I'll go with Mark Donohue and the 60's to 70's road racer. It was the coolest times. very dangerous, but cool.

I'd say Roadracing in the 60's. ;)
Just think beating the hell out of NEW Cobras, Cheetahs, Scarabs, early Can AM cars... along with the birth of the TransAM cars.
That era was setting new ground with each year, inventing new things as they went.
Think of the difference between the caveman engineering of the '50's and significantly modernized 70's technology.
It seems to me the 60's was where many of the 'modern' technology was born. Must have been an exciting time.
In the motorcycle Roadracing world the 80's were incredible, in the early 80's the best sport bike you could buy would have been a KZ1000 with skinny tires and bendy frame. By the end of that decade you could go out and get a fully developed road race tool like a Honda RC30, Ducati 851, etc.

I honestly cannot think of any better time to live than today, and be doing what I am doing. Since my car is an Escort, I get to do the same type of things a '60s rodder did, though in a different manner. I have the ability to communicate with the various people who know what they are doing through the internet. I can go fast, slow, I can road race drag race, and go all out at land speed events. I want to be me, in the present day, and just trying to go a little bit faster.

Now this is a hard one. My first choice was hot rodding in the 30's and 40's or stock car racing in the 40's and early '50's. But I think I would really like to be in the pro rally scene back in the early '60's. I can imagine doing the Monte Carlo Rallye in a (real) Mini Cooper, a TR 4 with a hard top, a two stroke Saab, even a Mercedes or Peugeot sedan. Those were the days.....I think.
