    99 Silverado 1500 Parts

    Howdy,

Is the dealer the only and/or best place to get the little screws that hold my spoiler/edge gaurd onto the lip of the tailgate? Also I think I need a transmission mount, is the dealer piece the best choice or is a parts store piece good enough?

    Thanks,

I would check local hardware stores for different/similiar screws. The little Ace store (indepedantly owned) by my house carries alot of oddball screws/bolt/bushings/you name it.

As for the trans mount, every since I put poly mounts in my camaro, I'm a huge fan of those. Probably alot cheaper than oem/dealer too....

I got a trans mount from the local parts store, it was about 1/4 list price at the dealer, but it was made in korea. The newer mounts are a better design than the old ones, it'll probably last. although yours is 4x4 isn't it?

take the plastic off, weld up the holes, paint.

It's a 4x4, it's not the same as the classic GM mount at least on the frame side of it. It's awefully soft and I think the rubber is worn out. I actually like the spoiler/lip gaurd so I want to screw it back down. They have some plastic on the heads and while I'm sure I could get some stainless sheetmetal screws I'd like to stick with the OEM type bits.

Ace's fastener selection rocks compared to Lowes or Home Depot.

might try your local auto paint store also, they usually keep alot of specific fasteners that you wont find other places

                Thanks,

Found the bolts, now need to find the mount. Didn't list is under any obvious header so I'll look again tomorrow.
