    old school 671

    OK so we are building a old school low buck blower motor
    steal crank double key way good rods forged pistons going in my coupe

    question

    i have a set of 487 x heads 2.02's screw in studs guide plates stainless intake valve sodium exhaust {all from old gm dealer} then have been gasket matched in the past {old stoker build i had} what are your thoughts
    on these heads

    now remember this is a 2000 pound car tops full with me in it and it will look totally 1960's when it is done so it will move {ran 7.50's in the 1/8 with violant tire shake with my old set up with was the storker built in late 80's and a c26 intake}

                I agree with the others... the '487X' heads will work fine. In addition to the 2.02/1.60 valves, they have 76cc combustion chambers (good for a blower). Intake port volume measured 161cc, exhaust port volume is 65cc.

                The '487' heads which had smaller 1.94/1.50 valves were used on the '71 LT-1 350ci. The larger combustion chamber aided in the reduction of compression from the '492' heads used on the '70 LT-1.

                Other than the larger combustion chamber, the '487X' heads are very similar to the '492s.'

                  And as such, as long as they aren't cracked,
                  they can be massaged to work pretty well.

                  I'll need the intake as well...

                          power pack heads are 60cc
                          no ? use some 76 cc world products sr heads , new castings , so you don't have to worry about hidden cracks
                          especially between the valves
