View Full Version : What events do you want?

Let us know! We won't do all of them in the next 6 months, but.... we want to bring you the type of events you want to attend. We'll be hitting lots of your favorite events around the country as well, but we do plan on putting some of our own events on the map. So, what do you want?
Drag racing?
Roadtrip?
Destruction Derby?
What?
You tell us!!!

I've always wanted to try autocross?
I need alot more practice at drag racing, too.
Roadtrips are cool, but why not stay in one smaller region per trip? Like doing Niagra Falls and some of the Finger Lakes of New York ? Just an idea.

THE RENTAL CAR NATIONALS!!!!!

I'd like to see any of them, as long as it involves cars. :D You say you plan on doing events across the country, so please don't forget the Oklahoma City area. We do have a good dragstrip south of the city and I would like to be able to attend. I have a handicap daughter so travel is hard. :(

What else would be cool would be a run through the Tail of The Dragon on the way to a CarJunkie Maxton Event...

Do the Aussie version of a burnout contest...a large square of asphalt, a lot of tire smoke, style and all. That'd be pretty cool. Would love to see autocross, there's always more than just going in a straight line. Would love to see ya'll in the Northwest when I get back, we've got Pacific (old SiR) and Bremerton Raceways.

Tractorpulling with cars (and pulling cars for that matter)
Hill-climbing (like they do in Iceland)
French car-testing.... (try to find out through how many french-heaps you can crash with 1 fullsize American car at speed) 8)

An all-around competition would be a blast. We could have the event at a dragstrip, and do an autocross in the pits, along with braking tests and maybe a very short road trip. I would compete in that for fun. The downside to RSE was that a judge drove your car, which made it an engineering competition, not just a bunch of guys having fun with their cars.

How 'bout a "everyone jump in along the way" cruise to the HOT ROD REUNION in KY this year?
http://www.museum.nhra.com/apcm/templates/general.asp?articleid=676&zoneid=41&navsource=reunions
A simple CARJUNKIETV window sticker (like the ones I suggested you get made for quarter glass) would define the group.
DF might be out 'cause its his first Fathers Day, but it's a killer event.

Hope we can have some stuff in the SE. As I'm headquartered in NC now and can't afford too much travel, I'm hoping y'all will come to me! Wilmington is BEAUTIFUL with the East Cost's most beautiful beach (Google Wrightsville Beach) (ask NARIDER) and we'd love to have you. Maxton is 100 miles, and we have TONS of little dragstrips. I'm sure we could put together something interesting.
As far as events -
Drags
LSR
AutoX
Of course, I'm stacking the deck, as my 'Stang should shine in this type of event.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Rental car nationals idea.... we'd have to be Very secretive.. but it could be done... with multipul events... I happen to know a place where you could wear the car out... from the 1/4 to 1.3 miles... and they already have a SCCA sponored race there... so that's not a biggie... then you have the other craziness.... I need to think some more about this... Hmmm

I think they would all work, Drag Racing, Open track, AutoX, but spread it around. I hate to say it but most of the events happen in the midwest, south, west. Bring it on up to the northeast, there are plenty of old dragway's here and you'd get a bunch of people that can't trek across the country.

I'm in for all most anything.
Touring including dragging, autocross, top speed, etc.
Just no sitting in parking lots.
FD got me into the Power Tour, days of driving and so much fun, then he gets me back into drag racing after 30 years with his Editorial when he challenged us to go to the drag strip. Now i would like to do a Drag Week.
Many $ later and I am liking this.
I do enjoy working on the car probably more than driving it.
As a note, in the NorthEast our kids and grand kids dont get out of school till late June back Sept 1.

January 29th, 2008, 09:55 AM
thats basically how it worked.
me, scott, jerry from diy and 1 or two other people were tunning the cars and me and scott were running the dyno.
scott do you remeber how many cars we did?
it got to the point that we would go out into the parking lot and fix what needed to be fixed just to be done with the car.
after that day i really didnt want to see another damn miata again...lol...didnt know that may people actually drove those cars.
we bbq'ed and tuned basically, open to anyone who showed up.
(then there was chad and andy with the ring of fire project)
best results would need to be done on a steady state dyno ie(mustang, superflow ect)

There you go, Team Car Car Junkie vs. Team Ricer Boy. Wherever they have flash light drags set up a little local feud, add a local video team. Decend on event, let mahem ensue.
Only registered members of the respective forums on the teams. Must have decal in back window to appear on screen. Let the teams figure out their own ladders and handicap the opponents cars/drivers, just like on the streets (so I hear) Celebrate winners, offer advice to losers. Losing team buys beer and pizza for winners.

How about Roadtrip with stops along the way for drag and track racing. This event would be a combination of the gas drags, Year One and the PT all rolled into one. Real world cars that can compete in straight line and road course. Many of us would come along just for the road trip with the added bonus of watching cars perform on the track.
Would be nice to have some good cruise stops along the way, maybe a Drive-In theater reserved just for us with a movie we pick ourselves and maybe a county fair style venue with demo derby to end the tour?

Have an El Mirage opening weekend event....The regulars at the LSR events are some of the friendliest, most gracious people I've met...also total gearheads thru and thru.
After just speaking with my fiance about giving some volunteer time to charitable causes it struck me that you may be interested in that also. You could easily coordinate with a local Ronald McDonald House or childrens cancer center to offer kids a chance to sit in a car that can go 200MPH or let them start a 600HP street car or maybe even sit in the passenger seat of a car doing a really righteous burnout. (I always loved doing donuts but there may be liabity issues to consider there).
On the other end of the scale I think some retirement homes would appreciate a night out with carjunkies...how many older people would appreciate a chance to cruise in an old t-bucket or duece coupe again?
just a thought ;D

Why stop in the USA, you have an open invitation to the Great White North too. I have friends in Calgary, Alberta; three tracks in Ontario; and our race in New Brunswick, if you ever want to head this way. if you are coming to woodward, plan on getting there by wen night. Lots of cruising leading up to the big Saturday final. Problem with Saturday is it turns into a parking lot with the number of people. Easier to get around earlier, don't forget to go to Pontiac on Friday night (north end of the 23 mile cruise) it is a blast. Lots of cars, lots of people, lots of food, and the cops look the other way when burnouts occur! :o

LSR event in Maxton, NC. Drag racing event, Darlington, SC. Or the new NHRA facility in Charlotte, NC

I would like to see an endurance type of race like Cannonball Run.
Maybe an all at once 12 hour "race" across an area/ states
Or something like that Goldburg show that was on Spike last year.
A race where we don't wreck our cars, but "prove" they can go a long way
without dying, etc
