I want to see some turbo v 8's. My last project was supposed to be a turbo'd 454 but i got so much conflicting info from the powers that be I chickened out. I went as far as ordering and sending back the custom turbo!! I am looking forward to seeing some pics and hearing your stories.

Here are a few pics of my scrap:
1989 notchback mustang
2004 gm 5.3 LSX(comp cam/springs/pushrods,Rod bolts,60 lb injectors)
Turbonetics T76 turbo
All hotside/coldside built at home in garage
Ebay front mount intercooler
on 12 psi and pump gas the car went 11.0@ 134 mph with the IAT at only 104 at the end of the run .The car is making roughly 550 rwhp without hardly breathing on it .... Next is more boost + meth injection for safety. Turbos Rule!

with those kind of low intake temps, you probably have a lot of turbo leftover!! I doubt that meth injection would help you much until you really start stepping up the boost. I usually don't see a meth benefit until 160 degrees IATs or more.

Oh im sure this turbo still has alot of room to grow especially on this small motor I believe the T76 will do around 8-900 hp on a motor this sized without pushing serious hot air.... The reason for the meth would be Just for insurance, One slight hint of detonation and im sure it will pop off a ring land :-X. This is just a lowly ol farm truck motor LOL ;D, Im not really concerned with the power benefit of the meth as this thing is already making plenty of that and a few more clicks of the boost controller will really wake it up im sure.
My goal is a single digit pass and with the addition of the two step as well as the trans brake I should be able to take the 1.8 60 foot times and put them down into the 1.4 range which should just about get me there at my current power level,Hell it already ran 134 mph which should be good for low low tens with a good 60 ft. Then im adding a full tubular front end with coil overs etc so minus 80 or so lbs off the front end and a few more lbs of boost it should be knockin on the 9's I hope :)

How trick is the fuel system? Stock gm injection with bigger injectors? Nice car by the way.

Niel,
What type of pipe/tube did you use for the hotside after the iron manifolds?
I have an Lq4 I'd like to put a small single turbo on for the tow rig but I'm wondering what to make it out of.
Are those just factory pullies?
Awesome car by the way.

Its not a V8 but it should give you some ideas.
These are pics of the turbo setup on our V10 Mercury Grand Marquis.
These pics are before anything got coated/painted.

Thanks for all the comments
The fuel system consists of the following
16 gallon aluminum cell
-8 to aeromotive pre filter- aeromotive A 100 pump - Aeromotive post filter
-8 to front to Aeromotive by pass boost referenced fuel regulator
-8 return to cell
stock gm fuel rail
Seimens 60 lb injectors
The hotside consits of the following:
stock gm truck manifolds flipped
2.5" mild steel crossover with flex joint
into 3.5" pipe then into the T4 turbo flange
through the turbo then out in mild steel 3" down pipe over to drivers side
I will be changing the down pipe up to a 3.5 and routing it to the back of the car and dumping it at the diff.
The pulleys are all stock the water pump etc is all stock gm stuff the only thing I did was cut the bracket down that usually holds the PS pump so now it only holds the alternator.

Thanks alot, I like the vibe of this board that is why I posted it here. I don't have to be worried about getting my ass ripped about newbie questions in the wrong section, blah, blah. It's refreshing that there are no 4000 post dinosaurs here harassing people on whether or not a particular question is worthy.

Basically we built it to use as a daily driver and it had to have enough "nut" to be able to tow the race cars to the track, and also spank unsuspecting prey! ;D
The reason we worked with the older truck is we couldn't find a new truck platform that would do what we wanted/needed.
Plus we really liked this body style.
Here's a link to it with some bigger/better pics

and some more general info:
1989 Full size extended cab, shortbed
gas tank relocated to back
battery located to under bed
custom SDCE 350cid engine built for boost
custom SDCE single turbo kit
Accel Gen VII tuned by SDCE
custom floor shifter
hidden hitch
710hp/650lb-ft (chassis dyno'd at 18psi)
770lb-ft/730HP (when it was engine dyno'd only tested up to 13psi)
11.50's at 123mph (1/4 track tested!)
Thanks!

This belongs to a good friend mine.
It is a 509 BBC with twin 80mm's and a single 4150 carb.
I loaned him a pair of 91mm's just incase but, he didn't need them.

I like the draw thru setup. They get a bad rap but you can't deny there are a few fast ones out there.

atomicsix are you guys running batch fire with the EMS Pro or all four spark outputs firing 2 coils at once?

Yes it will be both.
The injectors will be batch fire, actually two batches because it will be dual fuel setup.
And the ignition will be wasted spark as you said(four spark output firing eight coils)
You seem to know some about the different setups, what are you running?

Stock ecm on my 2001 Vette (Speed Density Open Loop), my 70 Chevy shoortbed is getting a clone of the 5.3 from the Fairmont you guys have. Only with a Borg Warner 75mm turbo. I've been reading everything possibly trying to decide which complete standalone I want to go with. So far the EMS Pro seems to be the most versatile without going to far into accessories.
