Breaking News: Freiburger Going Back to Hot Rod MagazineBy Freiburger Posted 01/26/09
I had hoped to control this a bit more, but the word is spreading like wildfire so I might as well “officially” break the news to you here first: I’m going back to Hot Rod magazine as Editor In Chief. Rob Kinnan (who is in India right now; see the stories at HotRod.com) remains in place as Editor and Jerry Pitt has, once again, become Publisher.
What this means for this web site is that the planned name change is ramping up quickly (pending the results of Chad’s trademark meeting this morning), and the torch will be handed over to Brian Lohnes and Chad Reynolds. It's our hope that the community will remain strong.
Chad will also continue to run Boondoggle Media, our video production company. Chad and I also have permission to continue the pursuit of our TV show, which is moving along nicely though we are not holding our breath.
So there’s the quick version. I report to work a week from today assuming my background check clears the human resources department. Really.

Glad to hear it Dave.
While HRM hasn't really sucked, it is just a bit different, and not in a way I am happy about. Everybody over there is doing a competent job but, nothing personal, it just seems to lack something. I hope things will return to the not so predictable, highly entertaining way they were before you left.

I put Freiberger in the same group as LeRoi Tex Smith and Ganahl when it comes to "a magazine is built around a central character or leader". I'd say Hallaleua but the rules prohibit religion or politics.
