Hilarious Video: A Crazy, Dirt Track, Big Rig Race at the Webster County FairBy Brian Lohnes Posted 03/10/2010
Talk about grassroots racing. Take an open area, throw some huge old equipment tires around the edges and center of said area, form an oval about a quarter mile in length, and allow people to race big rigs around it. Where the hell do we sign up? This is friggin' awesome. Read More >
Crazy Video: A Turbocharged Camaro That Hates to Have the Front Tires on the GroundBy Brian Lohnes Posted 03/10/2010
This incredible video, showing Texan Kevin Cram in his twin turbo'd Camaro, beats all we've ever seen. Powered by a Proline Race Engines-built big block Chevy, and obviously dialed in by someone who knows what they hell they're doing, this car simply refuses to keep the front tires on the ground, at basically any point on the Houston Motorsports Park eighth-mile course. This is 100% BangShift.com approved mania! Read More >
Crazy Video: 8-second passes on a small tire and only 200ciBy Brian Lohnes Posted 03/9/2010
While it's kind of impossible to call a race car a sleeper, we'd never guess that a Cortina backing 200ci of straight six Ford power would be uncorking 8 second lap times all day long. This car is an amazing testament to how a science'd out turbocharger application can really bring the thunder. Read More >
Cool Video: Big Wheelstand From Hemi-Powered Willys GasserBy Brian Lohnes Posted 03/2/2010
There are few things more iconic in the halls of hot rodding than a blown Willys Gasser. With rolling curves, bulging fenders, and propensity to swallow large motors at will, the Willys went from a truly lowly stocker to a hot rod icon when racers discovered that they were light and had a roomy engine bay. The one in this video is sporting 392 Hemi power. Read More >
Video: The 7,700-Pound, 5-engine, Black Widow Pulling Tractor in ActionBy Brian Lohnes Posted 03/2/2010
We were initially tipped off to a great video of the Ohio-based Black Widow pulling tractor by BangShift.com forum member 67Prostreet. Here's the video of this five-engined monster being used in anger on the pulling course. This tractor is truly a show stopper. It's owned by David Archer and driven by his daughter Kathy. The big lug of a tractor was pulling over in Holland when this videos were shot. Read More >
Killer Video: A Big 4x4 Ford Truck That's Way Too QuickBy Brian Lohnes Posted 02/24/2010
What kind of lunatic builds an all-aluminum 511ci Ford FE engine and plugs it into a huge, lifted 4x4 truck for the purposes of drag racing it? A BangShift.com approved lunatic, that's who! As you'll see in the video, this truck has big slicks mounted on all four corners and it sounds totally awesome. Read More >

Awesome Video: Insane Icelandic Hillclimb ActionBy Brian Lohnes Posted 02/15/2010
Icelandic hillclimb racers must hate gravity. There's just no other way to explain why they attempt to race their tube chassis Jeeps and trucks up near vertical cliff faces, often with disastrous results. Big blocks, lots of nitrous, paddle tires, and miles of steel tubing make this a BangShift.com approved motorsport. The fact that disaster can strike anywhere from the hit of the throttle to within feet of the mountain top finishline, makes it riveting to watch. Read More >
Awesome Video: Scotty Cannon's Controversial 1992 Lumina Pro Mod in ActionBy Brian Lohnes Posted 02/13/2010
The IHRA created the Pro Modified drag racing class in 1990. Born from the Top Sportsman bracket racing category, the ever plucky IHRA recognized the wild popularity of the various quick eight and quick 16 shootouts that were happening all over the eastern (particularly the southeastern) US and decided to bring that flavor of no-holds-barred door slammer drag racing to the national event level. Roughly 14 seconds later, competitors started pushing the rules, going faster, and driving the class to the level it has achieved today. 1992 would bring a particular shockwave to the class in the form of Scotty Cannon's "Lumina." Video: Blastro, The Pro Mod Astro VanBy Brian Lohnes Posted 02/5/2010
Blastro is a blown, alky swilling, tube-chassis version of a Chevy Astro van. It's bat poop crazy and we love it. After dropping the video of the A-Team van on you yesterday we needed a little van follow-up. While it may not be the quickest thing ever to head down a strip, and calling it a Pro Mod is only mildly accurate, we love the hell out of this van. BA Baracus would approve! Read More >
Action Video: Cummins on Cummins Tug of WarBy Brian Lohnes Posted 01/26/2010
After reporting on GM challenging Ford to a tug of war last week, our wheels started turning and our fingers started searching YouTube for tug of war videos. They are there by the thousands, but this one really caught our eye. It shows a dually, crew cab, Cummins-powered Dodge pulling against another Cummins-powered Dodge truck, but that one sports blingy wheels. Three words sum up this contest. Lots of smoke. Read More >
Video: Louie Force and His Wheelstanding 1953 KenworthBy Brian Lohnes Posted 01/25/2010
"Diesel" Louis Force is the older brother of John Force, and some say he's the crazier of the pair. Louie has been there next to John for all of this trials and tribulations through the years and drag racing is as ingrained in his DNA as it is in his little brother's. Louie drove a wheelstander for several years, and in typical Force fashion, it was a show unto itself. Read More >

Video: Test and Tune the Ridetech WayBy Chad Posted 01/13/2010
We've known the gang over at Ridetech for years, and know that their manufacturing, testing, and quality are second to none. We just didn't realize that they had so much fun proving it! Check out this latest video from Ridetech's in-house graphics, video, and web guru Scott Payton. The video shows Bret, Ty, Darren, and Scott along with a few unidentifiable Ridetechies putting the Velocity Camaro and Test Mule Chevelle through their paces on what can only be described as "less than ideal tarmac." Video: The Merrill, Wisconsin, Ice Drag Races are OnBy Brian Lohnes Posted 01/11/2010
It's the time of year when water turns solid, and that means the river in Merrill, Wisconsin, at Council Grounds State Park has become a frozen 1/8-mile drag strip. The Merrill Ice Draggers have been at it since 1966, and yesterday was the first day of the racing season on the icy river. And, yes, they are racing cars and dragsters, not snowmobiles or anything reasonable like that. Read More >
Video: Ten Minutes of Rally WreckageBy Brian Lohnes Posted 01/8/2010
This video is a win for several reasons. The first is that it features nothing but the pure sounds of wreckage. There's no dumbass techno soundtrack or other distractions, instead there are motors on the chip as the car they happen to be attached to careens through the air. We can't even ID half the cars in this video, but they all end up wrecked anyway, so it really does not matter. Trees always win. Read More >

Video: Off-Road Truck Out-Jumps Travis Pastrana With a 301-Foot RecordBy Brian Lohnes Posted 01/4/2010
The marketing made it seem like the world was watching on New Years Eve when Travis Pastrana jumped a rally Subaru 269 feet onto a barge anchored in Long Beach harbor, a distance record for rally cars. But in the days before that, Johnny Greaves had that number beat by 32 feet, setting the record for the longest 4x4 jump. The video is below. Read More >
Video: Camaro Outruns BMW in Insane Swedish Snow RaceBy Chad Posted 01/3/2010
This is one of the best races known to man. It happens in Sweden, where BangShift.com member Gasfot Sweden races his beater second-generation Camaro in events that are like road races or rallycrosses, but in the snow! In the past we've seen his insane ice-lake footage, shot and edited by BangShifter Jobergg (at the bottom of this page), but this latest video has him absolutely smoking a BMW in the white stuff. The sound of this is as awesome as the driving. Read More >
Video: Score! Travis Pastrana Sets the Rally Car Jump Record at 269 Feet!By Brian Lohnes Posted 12/31/2009
In an amazing showing of bowling-ball sized stones, 26-year-old Travis Pastrana set the world record for a rally car jump on New Year's Eve, flying his Subaru 269 feet over water and landing on a barge in the harbor of Long Beach, California. The record blew away the old one set by Ken Block at 171 feet. Pastrana had to throw the car sideways and slam it against a wall at the end of the barge to stop the car, as he said the ramp was slick with dew. Read More >
