Video of the Week: The Crappiest Drag Strip on EarthBy Brian Lohnes Posted 04/23/09

We have to thank, or blame, our chassis builder pal Jon Sandahl for shooting us a link to the video below. It was apparently shot at a place calling itself a drag strip somewhere in the Caribbean.

Long story short, we may actually recommend street racing over racing at this “track.” Actually, it appears racing at this “track” is street racing because the place is nothing more than an old hunk of road.

Things to look for include the pre-caved in roof of the Mustang that’s about to run, the crowd of people standing way to close to the car and the, umm, shape, of the shutdown area.

If you have seen a shoddier, scarier, more worn out excuse for a drag strip, please send along a photo, we’d love to see it.

Used to be a 1/8 mile track in Aguadilla, PR looked  like that. I never saw a Mustang there though, only Datsuns and Toyotas. It's been closed  for at least 5 yrs now.

Looks more like a place to off road my jeep than to drag race

Or someone was dancing on the roof.

That's island racing for you. These guys are nuts. I can't tell if they're Dominicans or Puerto Ricans, they don't sound puertorican because I can understand the announcer.

spdrag nailed it..that thing has seen lid time before.

From the looks of things, it might have been just fine if there was an actual shut-down area to speak of....I'd wager it isn't enough for a 16-second schlub, let alone whatever that 'stang had goin' on...and from the sounds of it, it had a LOT.

Remember in the first Fast & Furious movie when Vin Diesel's character said, "My father was killed in turn 2 of a Pro Stock race"? It was probably at this track.  ;D

Wonder if the driver was chosen at random.  Apparently, he didn't bother to check out the top end to see what issues there might be down there.  Ay, caramba!

Take a look at the roof, that car has been on it's top once before.  That track is worst than some to the streets I raced on in the 60"s
