Video: Take a ride in a 235-MPH CorvetteBy Chad Posted 08/12/09
Ed and Linda Van Scoy have been racing their C4 Corvette at Bonneville for 15 years. It has gotten Ed into the Bonneville 200-MPH Club, and has held several records. All of that experience clearly pays off if you watch this video. It is smooth like we've never seen before. If you want to know what you should be doing in a car that goes 235, watch the video and take notes. It's perfect.
The amazing part is how straight the car is once it's in top gear. Most Bonneville cars do not handle this well. Ed's shifting and shutdown procedure is also textbook.
Wait for Ed's reaction to the news of his time slip at the end of the vid. It's as excited as he gets. By a lot.

Ed... after reviewing the Film and Data... we've decided you don't need a Lic anymore.... that thing is just like a street car...

When I showed Ed the video this morning, even he was surprised by how smooth he was. This car has been raced at Bonneville for 15 years, but is a stock bodied C4. They are not known for being the most stable platform at such speeds, but Ed's is weighted and sorted real well. Plus, the salt is sooooo smooth you wouldn't believe it. These are the best salt conditions in the history of ever. No matter what the conditions, the fact that Ed's procedure is so perfect, and his driving is so smooth is a testament to his driving skill. Major kudos to Ed.

That is incredible! You'd think he was on a five mile stretch of freshly paved interstate or something. That's what I call smoooooooth! ;D
