The Jensen Rule: IHRA Modifies Rules to Allow Andy Jensen's Turbo Small-Block Camaro Pro ModBy Brian Lohnes Posted 07/14/09
It's not only rare, it may be a drag racing first. The IHRA has made a change to its Pro Modified class rules and has dropped the weight minimum to 2,300 pounds for turbocharged small-block entries. This announcement comes on the heels of Andy Jensen recently running the first 5-second small-block pass in history at Englishtown recently.
Rules are so often made to exclude different combos of cars, not invite them in to the hunting ground. The wording on the IHRA site reads:
7/10/09
p. 18 Pro Modified: Weight Minimum: Add the following: Turbo charged small block 2,300 lbs.
Why is this the Jensen rule? Find us another guy running a turbo small-block and running anywhere near these numbers. We'll not hold our breath because it's going to be a while. With the IHRA tour heading all the way up to Canada for the next race, we're hoping that Jensen finds his way to our next of the woods and runs the car in Epping, New Hampshire.
He'd have the first ever turbo small-block car to compete in IHRA Pro Modified and he'd enter the grounds as more than a legitimate threat to win the whole deal.
This thing is bad ass.

That's pretty cool, a sanctioning body that actually listens to Racers and Fans, what will they think of next!

It seems IHRA understands that they make money when people buy tickets and people buy tickets to see kick butt, cutting edge cars race.

Sounds like one of the fundamental differences I see between IHRA and NHRA. IHRA - what can we do to get more racers in this class. NHRA - sorry you don't fit this class, next.
