Freiburger's New Hot Rod Project Camaro Revealed on Power TourBy Brian Lohnes Photos: Chad Reynolds Posted 06/06/10

The F-Bomb has a shinier, younger brother. Hot Rod editor David Freiburger's new project Camaro was spotted by our own Chad at the Power Tour stop in Newton, Iowa. Powered by one of GM's new E-Rod crate engine packages, it was the buzz of the Power Tour on Saturday.

There's an interesting BangShift, com connection to the car as the builder, Mike Copeland is a member on our forums (LS1ZR2 is his user name)! Mike's Michigan-based shop, Diversified Creations handled the build, and as Mike is a GM employee, we're sure that the E-Rod is working mighty fine in the front of the late Second-Gen F-body.

Guess the days of the cheapie late 1970s or early 1980s Camaro is over. The car appears to kick some serious ass. Look for the build to be featured in upcoming issues of Hot Rod. The car will be running the remainder of the Power Tour.

This one has the look of a '78 or '79. The urethane bumpers were from '78 to '81, and the slit fender opening (as opposed to the big fat hole opening) was '78 or '79 Z28. Big fat hole was '80 and '81. The wrap around rear window was started in '75 I believe and went to the end of 2nd gen run in '81. If I'm not wrong the stripes are '79 or '80ish, but they had so many weird ass decal combos towards the end of the 2nd gen run I can't keep them straight. Those style decals are the ones I put on my '78, and I'm pretty sure they weren't original for '78.

70-73 nose? Are we talking about the Fbomb or this red one? The Fbomb was a 73. I'm pretty sure that this red one has a 77/78/79-ish rubber nose. It looked just like Cobey's Camaro The 70-73 had the split bumpers with the big open grill.

Oops! I'm a dumbass! For some reason I can't see pictures when I log in from my phone and I didn't realize RickSSR posted a pic. Nevermind the idiot and please resume normal viewing. Thanks!

Don't be hate'n.....

And wait in that pic, that's the wrong rear window for that front end. >:(

That's like a '75 rear window and a 70-73 front end. Any shots of the back of the car??

You're right, definately a 70-73 front end on a late model car.  Can't tell because of the shadows, but the back end looks early model too.
