While most of the country was embroiled in one of the most widespread cold spells in history, the greater Los Angeles area was enjoying temps in the mid 70s on New Years. And if that wasn't enough to make the rest of you hate Southern Californians, we had drag racing as well. You read that right. The 2010 drag racing season started on day one of 2010, with the New Years Bracket Bash at Autoclub Dragway in Fontana, California. Thanks to Scott Liggett, otherwise known as Rebeldryver on the BangShift.com forums, we've got a few pics from the event to share with all you folks still trying to defrost the family truckster. Sorry. Well, not really.
Nestled across the parking lot from the famed Auto Club California Speedway, where NASCAR's elite will be competing next month, the Auto Club Dragway holds events all year long. Events include NHRA Heritage and Division 7 events, NHRA Jegs SportsNationals, PSCA, SCEDA, Bugorama, and Junior Dragster events. In addition, the Auto Club Dragway hosts Southern California's very successful Street Legal Drags where you have to line up at 3:00 a.m. to get a spot in the packed pits. Funny, you say that. The winds were howling when I got there around 10 am, but where gone before I could walk across the road to the track. Then it got hot.
