BREAKING VIDEO: 2010 Taurus SHO Runs 13.92 at the Drags!By Brian Lohnes Posted 08/16/09
Leapin' lizards! We knew the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO would be a decent runner with the twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, but we did not think it would have the suds on tap to knock off a brand new V6 Camaro. Here's a video of one running 13.92 in the quarter. That's a stout number for a big ol' sedan.
We think the guy in the Mustang must have been looking out his window and praying for the entire length of that run. How humiliating for you to be shown up in front of your buddies by a freaking Taurus. Now that we know better we'll be badge hunting at the street lights to avoid the same fate.
Here's the video of a run during the all Ford weekend at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. Impressive stuff!

I am sure the turbos are backed way off to let the GM/FORD transaxle live

As much as I want to love the new SHO, I can't.
Barely dipping into the 13s makes the SHO fodder for any number of comparably priced or cheaper V8 sedans (SRT-8s, Pontiac G8s and (horrors!) Hyundai Genesis 4.6 come immediately to mind. Hyundai? Yes, Hyundai http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=10&article_id=7905).
And most instrumented testing so far indicates that the standard SHO (without the expensive performance package) won't even break 100 in the quarter. See http://speedzzter.blogspot.com/2009/07/taurus-sho-finally-past-100-m.html and http://speedzzter.blogspot.com/search?q=TAURUS+SHO+IS+A+PIG+IN+EDMUNDS+TESTING
As the Mustang SVO proved twenty-five years ago, charging more for less performance is not a successful sales strategy.
Ford, of course, needs to be building turbocharged cars (including V8s (http://speedzzter.blogspot.com/2009/02/why-ecoboost-v8-get-latest-truth-with.html). They should have never stopped! And the 2012-2016 CAFE regulations will kill off what's left of the hot big-cube V8 sedans in everything but the uber-luxury segment.
But the new SHO is "SLOW, HEAVY AND OVERPRICED!" It's not the answer.

The W-bodies with 5.3's are good for about 14.0 at 101 bone stock.
