62 Photos from Today's Long Beach Swap MeetBy Freiburger Posted 11/30/08

After clearing 10,000 square feet of junk out of our old 7,000-square-foot shop, we had lots of stuff to get rid of. Combine that with our need for food money and it was obvious that we had to go peddle some goods at today's Long Beach Swap Meet. We ended up selling about $1,100 worth of things that we might have otherwise thrown away. Even though the meet was small this Thanksgiving weekend there were still lots of cool cars on hand, and we snapped 60-plus photos of prime SoCal rods that we've shared with you here in our gallery. Enjoy from your toasty snowbound home.

I don't mind them either...except for the "Concours" cars like the one in the photo. Yukky grille and headlight treatment.

I don't know what it is, but those 75-79 Novas just catch my eye. When I was a young lad growing up in Charleston WV
I had a white 77 ,well and the cops had a few cars that was Novas , maybe you get the idea, almost lost my license.
And in '86 I started watching NASCAR ,mainly the Busch Series ,and I believe up until 87 Dale Sr drove Novas,as did many others ,and even Bill Elliot was driving Buick X bodies w/ V-6 ,instead of Fords. I guess I get to day dreaming of cruising Kanawha City . It was quite the scene for a while. That car would also make weekly trips to Beckley Speedway in Prosperity for some of the best dirt track racing around.

I was at the Turkey Run in Daytona this weekend, great swap section I mean HUGE.  Still, doesn't have that sweet Long Beach feel. Somehow there were (are) always cheap, relevant cars that you just can't find at the big swaps. I truly miss the early morning drive down from Pasadena, followed by a drive along the coast after the swap.

I didn't ask.

Great weather in NC, but certainly no swaps like that here (as far as I know, anyway).  You just had to make me drool with the 250 all dressed up and ready to go.  I'm convincing myself that all of the work was done incorrectly and it would have been a heartbreak anyway - or not.  Valve and sidecovers were likely worth the price of admission - how much, do you recall?

Thanks for the pics

Talked to Chad out there today. Didn't buy anything exect some vintage magazines.

My buddy spotted that Dart. But he just bought one yesterday after looking for over a year. Go figure.  ::) But for the asking price, he did better on the one he allready bought.

The Bug looks decent and fairly unmolested.

The kustom Valiant wagon was for sale on the HAMB a little while back.  I love that body style!!

cheers
